GarageKeeper and Motive Power by Computer Assistance Inc. Eliminated in Initial Screening

April 27th, 2009

In the early 1990’s GarageKeeper was one of the best known auto repair shop management programs especially in the northeastern section of the U.S.  It appears that they had trouble making a full transition from DOS to the newer technologies.

GarageKeeper is a DOS program, yet they still sell it.  Microsoft stopped supporting DOS in 1992.  Computer Assistance’s successor to GarageKeeper is Motive Power.  Computer Assistance Inc.’s web site including the web page that lists the latest version and the newest features of Motive Power was last updated in May 2007.

There is no way I can let either GarageKeeper nor Motive Power through the initial screening round at this time.  If they can get their development back on track, perhaps in the future I can re-evaluate Motive Power.  For now, it’s an early exit for this vendor and their offerings.
